Address Food Insecurity During Thanksgiving and Christmas
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect, give thanks, and help those who are less fortunate. We partner with multiple agencies to distribute boxes of food to families in need. This program has become one of our most popular activities because of the invaluable support that our partners provide. It is heartwarming to see the broad and diverse levels of support that our community provides to help the less fortunate. We are proud to have contributed to the distribution of more than 3000 meals in the DMV.

In the true giving spirit of Christmas, we have made a commitment to “Making a Difference” for less fortunate individuals in our community during the holiday season.

Senior Citizens / Nursing Home /Assisted LivingÂ
We partner with senior centers in our community to provide support in a variety of ways. In the past we have made financial contributions as well as provide tools/games that enable seniors to remain physically and mentally active, in addition to simply spending time, talking, playing games and of course……laughing.

FUNDRAISING EVENTS
To provide the financial resources needed to support our community programs we plan, organize, and most importantly work several key fundraising events. While these events are designed to be fun and “party with a purpose”, the fact is, they are laser-focused on increasing the resource levels of our community programs and activities. Our planned events for this year include:
Cigars, Sundresses & Swimsuits – this is our annual summer time event to solicit donations for our Back to School Program. While enjoying the pool/grounds of one of our sponsors this event brings together our corporate sponsors, members and others interested in  supporting the programs associated with PLG.
Boots and Bow Ties – this is our signature fundraising event. It is a wonderful opportunity for our guest to adorn themselves with the latest in “dress boots” and fashionable  bow ties. This is now one of the most popular holiday events in the DMV as it truly is the ultimate “Party with a Purpose”. Over the last nine years, the charitable donations raised from this event has helped more than 1500 families with over $45,000 in gifts, clothing and gift cards.
MEMBERSHIP
The depth and breadth of our programs have expanded considerably in recent years. Previously we focused almost exclusively on gift giving during the Christmas Holiday however, we currently have four mandated programs and our ability to execute them in an efficient and effective manner is dependent upon our MEMBERS. To that end, we created “Friends of Purposeful Living & Giving”. Quite simply, they are a group of volunteers with a passion for serving the less privileged and marginalized in our community. We are seeking to expand our membership and welcome a conversation with you to discuss your commitment and ability to contribute to Purposeful Living and Giving. Inc.
